ABOUT US

Mamma G’s story so far…

Embarking on a culinary journey rooted in the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean, we first conceived of Mamma G’s Caribbean Soul Food during lockdown with inspiration drawn from Naomi’s mum –  the remarkable Alfina Gabriel, who made her way to the UK from Grenada in the 70s. Mamma G’s story encapsulates the essence of the Caribbean diaspora, blending her cultural heritage with the experiences of a new life in a foreign land. Her resilience, passion for cooking, and the distinct aromas and tastes she brought with her ignited a spark within us to create a dining experience that pays homage to the rich culinary tapestry of the region.

Our concept, now residing in the historic Produce Hall of Stockport’s old town is not just a place to savor delectable dishes; it is a celebration of cultural fusion and a tribute to Mamma G’s indomitable spirit. The menu showcases an array of Caribbean delights from jerk chicken and plantain, to the aromatic curries and bold spices that define the region’s cuisine. Through this culinary venture, we aim to transport diners to the vibrant streets and warm beaches of the Caribbean, providing an experience that transcends the boundaries of geography and time. Mamma G’s influence is not only evident in the flavors but also in the welcoming atmosphere, where patrons can feel the genuine hospitality that characterizes Caribbean culture.

Mamma G’s is more than a restaurant—it’s a heartfelt homage to the cultural exchange that enriches our lives through the universal language of food.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
